What NOT to Do in the thousands block Industry

This is one of those posts that I know will get read and shared. I am not sure why some people are so quick to dismiss the importance of self-awareness. I think it’s because we think it only applies to those who have the luxury of time, or who somehow don’t have to think about everything day-to-day.

Yes it does.

I think this is one of those posts that can be viewed as a little more than a rant. It is a rant because I think we’ve all seen a few people who have been that way. Yes, we may be in a time where time seems to fly and we never have to think about anything. But we also live in a world where we have to think about things every day. If you don’t, you end up missing out on a lot of things.

In fact, to be honest, I have to admit that I have to have a lot of thoughts about a lot of things, and that can be frustrating. Like I said, I have to think about things every day, I have to live my life, I have to go to work everyday, I have to feed my family, and all sorts of other things that I have to think about every day. I guess that is a little more than just a rant.

It would be too easy to say that everyone has those thoughts, but what if we just let them fly and they end up blowing up in our face? The difference between having the thoughts and not having the thoughts is a lot smaller than you might think. There are lots of things that people have thought about and then forgot about. They just don’t register on the radar of your subconscious, they don’t feel significant, and you just never get to them.

I’m sure these thoughts are going through your head every moment of every day. But if you just let them fly, they’re on autopilot and you just end up having to deal with what they did to you.

Well, like I said, there are a lot of things that you thought about or did or said that you never really did. But those thoughts don’t register on your subconscious radar. Theyre always right there in front of you, but you just ignore them. That doesn’t mean they wont come up in a conversation, of course. But they don’t register unless you’re conscious of them.

I’m not just talking about what you think about when you do something. I’m talking about all the things that you dont know about, and all the things that you wish you knew, and all the things that you didnt know you wanted to know but you probably should have.

“Thousands block” is the title of a poem by John Donne. It refers to the thousands who blocked him in the street in the time of Henry VIII. You have no idea what that means, but it is a terrible thing to forget.

Its the very reason I like it so much, it reminds me of the way so many people block me. There are hundreds of thousands of people who block me on social media, in email, and on the Internet at large. I never thought it was a problem until I started doing it, and now I’m pretty sure I know why it is. Because while I have no idea what I am blocking, I do know what I want to block.
