I’m in love with filmmaking. It’s a skill that comes easily to me, but I would like to learn how to get it right. I guess I’m lucky that I got lucky in every way. I am excited to embark on this journey and I hope to bring a light and a smile to those who need it.
I am a filmmaker, but I was never really a director. I have always loved to read and write. When I was younger I would write my own screenplays and then go to class to learn about acting. I think that because I’ve always loved reading and writing, I can bring something to the screen that I can’t really do in film.
A couple of years ago I stumbled upon a very cool documentary about a filmmaker (John Waters) who spent his entire life trying to get it right. I watched The Filmmaker and I liked it. So I decided I would finally get to write my own screenplays. But I was afraid of the unknown, so I did the opposite. I got my first ‘real’ screenplay in November 2011. I went to a workshop on how to write and I was terrified.
At first I was scared by the fact that I didn’t know yet how to write, the fact that I was so nervous. But after the first day of the workshop I realized I still had a lot to learn. I’d never written this much before, and I was scared to death. All of the other screenwriters in the room were also scared.
If you’re working at a film studio you’re probably very scared of the unknown. When I first started shooting I was actually terrified of writing something without knowing what was going to happen. I ended up writing a few lines around the screen where I would have to get a few seconds of my life back. And that was the only thing I ever wrote: an adventure story, a film, a movie, a new place, or an art book.
Every screenwriter had one idea, but they all had the same idea. Every screenplay has one idea, but they all had the same idea. For me, screenplay is a very important thing, but I feel like it gives us a lot of freedom to think on our feet and to have fun. And then, of course, when we’re done writing anything, we move on, and it’s fun.
A lot of people, myself included, would go to great lengths to try to “write a screenplay.” This is because it is very difficult to write a good screenplay. You have to think on your feet and to have fun, but you can’t just write the story and then leave it on the page. It has to make sense, and you have to be able to tell the story from the first frame to the last.
