The only thing more spectacular than the flight of an angel is the flight of an angel falling from the sky. A quick trip to the nearest bookstore and I am all but certain you will find a reference to a book called “The Angel in Me.” That was the book that put the idea of angels in my head.
I am of course referring to the book by a very popular French author named Michel Houellebecq. The book is about a man named Pierre who lives in New Orleans, a city known for its “angelic” population. The book follows Pierre’s life from childhood to his death and is a very dark, yet ultimately uplifting story. It’s really well-written and its central theme of human fallibility and self-worth is quite touching.
I’ve been meaning to read that book for a long time, but somehow never got around to it. So as I was listening to the soundtrack of the trailer, I was a little bit reminded of this book. I always wanted to read that book. It was like an epiphany for me.
